In the early part of 2015 Well Machined embarked on a joint venture/pilot with action for children, as part of this venture we interviewed 12 young adults with the aim to give them an introduction to mechanical engineering.

This course consisted of 5 chapters:

Chapter 1: Introduction & Understanding engineering drawings.

Chapter 2: Introduction & understanding measuring equipment.

Chapter 3: Introduction & understanding programming software CAD/CAM.

Chapter4: Introduction & understanding programming CNC machine tools.

Chapter 5: Introduction & understanding CNC machine tools.

The course was a learning curve for everyone involved however the fundamentals were to give young adults an understanding of the engineering environment and the opportunities within oil & gas. More importantly the benefits of working weekly hours, a steady income and a work/ life balance, it was evident that throughout the weeks various young people were seeing the advantages the course would deliver.

We were happy to complete the course and discuss the pros and cons with all concerned, It really is something we at Well Machined are proud of and it gives us hope that the work that action for children does throughout various sectors definitely changes people’s lives.
